Emmenosperma alphitonioides, also known as the yellow ash or bonewood, is a tall rainforest tree found in eastern Australia. It can grow up to 35 meters tall and has a diameter of 150 cm. The bark is silvery grey and fissured, becoming more prominent on larger trees. The leaves are green, opposite, and not toothed, resembling those of a lemon or orange. They are 2-7 cm long and have a blunt point. The tree produces white flowers between August and November, and its fruit is bright orange and fleshy with two seeds. The fruit matures from March to August, and the tree is easily identified by its masses of orange drupes. To help with germination, it is recommended to use a file to weaken the seed shell. This tree can be found in various types of rainforests, from tropical to warm temperate, in eastern Australia.
