Clematis lasiantha, also known as the pipestem clematis, is a vine with creamy-white flowers that belongs to the subgenus Clematis in the genus Clematis. It is primarily found on the Pacific coast of North America, ranging from the San Francisco Bay Area to Baja California, and extending east to the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This plant typically grows on hillsides, in chaparral, and in open woodland. It blooms from January to June and has 3-lobed leaves with groups of three to five leaflets. Unlike the similar virgin's bower, the pipestem clematis only has one or a maximum of three flowers on each stem. It also has more pistils in each flower and can be found in drier areas compared to the virgin's bower. The pipestem clematis is known to attract butterflies.
