Aquilegia flabellata, also known as fan columbine or dwarf columbine, is a perennial flowering plant in the Ranunculaceae family. It typically grows to be 20-30 centimeters tall and has divided, slightly glaucous leaves. In early summer, it produces pale blue, violet-blue, or lavender flowers with creamy-white petals. This species is native to Eastern Asia, specifically Japan and Korea. It is often cultivated in alpine gardens or rockeries and there are numerous cultivars available for garden use. Some popular varieties include 'Ministar', 'Sapphire', and 'Jewel Series'. This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
