Aconitum uncinatum, also known as wild monkshood or southern blue monkshood, is a flowering plant found in the eastern United States. It grows in moist areas near streams and in wooded areas. The plant is toxic due to the presence of alkaloids, but has been traditionally used for medicinal purposes to treat nerve pain. It is commonly found in the Appalachian Mountains, Piedmont, and upper Atlantic Coastal Plain regions.

Sow seeds immediately as their viability decreases rapidly, or they best germinate when fresh. If stored, seeds might need temperature cycling and patience to germinate.
germination is usually unsuccessful; seed very poisonous; wash hands after handling; short viability; 20°C x 4 weeks, -7°C x 6 weeks, 10°C for germination
