Aconitum kusnezoffii, a perennial herb of the Aconitum genus, has a long history of medicinal use in several Asian cultures. In traditional Chinese medicine the dried root is prepared as a decoction and used to treat acute pain, rheumatic arthritis, and muscle spasms; this practice is documented in the 2015 monograph of Li et al. Tibetan healers similarly employ a boiled infusion of the root to relieve back pain and to treat febrile conditions, as reported by Tashi et al. In Mongolian traditional medicine the root is macerated in alcohol to produce a tincture that is applied topically as a poultice for bruises and joint inflammation, a use described by Kharaz et al. All three traditions rely on the root or rhizome, the most alkaloid‑rich part of the plant.

A simple, traditional preparation is a mild decoction. Take 5 g of dried Aconitum kusnezoffii root, add it to 200 ml of boiling water, and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid and allow it to cool to a tolerable temperature before drinking one cup (≈200 ml) twice daily. Because the plant contains potent diterpenoid alkaloids, this decoction should only be made by a practitioner trained in proper processing; the raw root is highly toxic, and the decoction should be limited to 1–2 cups per day. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as individuals with heart or kidney disease, should avoid use entirely.

The pharmacological activity of Aconitum kusnezoffii is largely attributed to its alkaloid profile.
