Protea vogtsiae, also known as the Kouga sugarbush, is a small flowering shrub found only in the southern Cape Region of South Africa. It was named after Marie Vogts and is commonly known as Marie-se-roossuikerbos in Afrikaans. This species was first discovered in 1972 and was classified in the section Crinitae along with other ground sugarbushes. It grows as a low, dwarf shrub with blue leaves and blooms at ground level. It is similar to other species in its section, but can be distinguished by its broader leaves. Protea vogtsiae is endemic to South Africa and is found in mountain ranges at altitudes of 1,000 to 1,500 metres. It grows in a fynbos habitat and is pollinated by rodents. The plant is able to survive wildfires, but its seeds are dispersed by wind. While it was previously believed to be rare and threatened, recent assessments have classified it as "least concern" with a stable population.
