Leucadendron floridum, or the flats conebush, is a flower-bearing shrub native to the Western Cape in South Africa. It grows in water-saturated soil at altitudes of 10-200m and is part of the fynbos. The shrub grows to 2m tall and bears flowers from September to October. Fire destroys the plant, but the seeds stored in a toll on the female plant survive and can be spread by the wind. Pollination occurs through the wind and the plant is unisexual, with male and female plants. In Afrikaans, it is known as vlaktetolbos.
