Grevillea murex is a unique species of flowering plant that belongs to the Proteaceae family and is found only in a small area of south-western Western Australia. It is a spreading shrub with hand-shaped leaves and clusters of greenish-white to dull cream-colored flowers. The plant grows up to 2 meters tall and has branches covered in silky hairs. Its leaves have 3 to 6 finger-like lobes and are rolled under at the edges. The flowers bloom from July to October and are followed by oblong fruits covered in rough projections. Grevillea murex was first described in 1986 and its name refers to the shellfish-like appearance of its fruit. It is only found in the Morawa area and is considered a threatened species by the Western Australian government.
