Banksia rufa subsp. flavescens is a subspecies of the plant Banksia rufa, previously known as Dryandra ferruginea subsp. flavescens. In 2007, it was reclassified under the genus Banksia by Austin Mast and Kevin Thiele. This was due to the merging of all Dryandra species into Banksia. As the name Banksia ferruginea was already taken, a new specific epithet was chosen for this subspecies. Like other members of Banksia ser. Dryandra, it is only found in the South West Botanical Province of Western Australia.
