Banksia arctotidis is a unique species of prostrate shrub found only in the southwest region of Western Australia. It has distinct features such as pinnately divided leaves, cream-colored flowers, and hairy fruit. It typically grows up to 1 meter in height and has a short underground stem. This species was first described in 1830 by Robert Brown and was later renamed as Banksia arctotidis in 2007. Its name is derived from the genus Arctotis. Banksia arctotidis is mainly found in sandy soil in the kwongan region, from Kojonup to Albany. Climate change is expected to have a significant impact on this species, with its range predicted to decrease by 50-80% by 2080. However, it is currently not considered a threatened species by the Western Australian Government Department of Parks and Wildlife.
