Banksia acanthopoda is a rare species of shrub in the Proteaceae family, endemic to Western Australia. It grows up to 2 meters high and has prickly leaves and yellow composite flower heads. It is classified as "Priority Two" conservation flora due to its rarity. The species was first described in 1996 and was renamed in 2007. It is little known in cultivation, but has potential as a cut flower. B. acanthopoda is found in a few small populations in the Avon Wheatbelt and Jarrah Forest regions, and is threatened by land clearing, salinity, grazing, and changes in the fire regime. Its susceptibility to dieback is unclear. The species has been successfully grown and propagated in cultivation and has potential for use in the cut flower industry.
