It is found in the Mediterranean region of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. It is a perennial grass that grows in a variety of habitats, from dry, sandy soils to moist, clay soils. It is a low-growing grass, reaching a height of 10-30 cm. The leaves are flat and linear, up to 10 cm long and 2-3 mm wide. The inflorescence is a panicle, with spikelets that are 4-6 mm long and contain two to three florets.

Vulpia ciliata is a species of perennial grass in the Poaceae family that is found in the Mediterranean region of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
