Stipagrostis obtusa is a perennial grass species that belongs to the Poaceae family. It is native to various regions including North Africa, Southern Africa, and Western Asia. This grass is commonly known as "kortbeen boesmangras" in Afrikaans, "ǂhabob" in Khoekhoe, and "מלענן ריסני" in Hebrew. It is a widespread species that can survive on low annual rainfall of about 150 millimetres. Stipagrostis obtusa is used as fodder grass in Namibia. It has been extensively studied and is included in the book "La Végétation de l'Afrique" by F. White. This grass is also known by its synonym, Aristida obtusa.
