Lasiacis ligulata is a type of grass that can be found in the Caribbean and Tropical South America. It was first described by Albert Spear Hitchcock and Mary Agnes Chase in 1917, with the type specimen collected in Trinidad. This plant is a perennial with long, woody culms that can grow up to 5 meters in length. Its leaves are lanceolate in shape and its inflorescence is a panicle with spikelets containing both sterile and fertile florets. This species is distributed throughout the Caribbean, northern and western South America, and even in Brazil.
