Hordeum secalinum, also known as false rye barley or meadow barley, is a wild barley species found in Europe, northwest Africa, and the Levant. It has also been introduced to Australia and New Zealand. This species is an allotetraploid, meaning it has four sets of chromosomes, and is believed to have evolved from ancestors with the Xa and I Hordeum genomes.
