In summary, Bromus diandrus, commonly known as great brome or ripgut brome, is a species of grass native to the Mediterranean but has been introduced to much of the rest of the world. It is a winter annual that grows throughout winter and spring and matures in the summer. It is an invasive species in California native habitats and can substantially reduce yields when it invades wheat fields. It is also a troublesome weed in cereal crops and natural pasture lands. It is similar to other brome grasses such as Bromus rigidus, Bromus sterilis, and Bromus hordeaceus.
