Juncus tenuis, also known as the slender rush, is a perennial plant in the rush family. It grows in clumps and can reach a height of 15 to 60 cm. While it is considered a weed and not commonly sold as a household plant, it is known for its distinctive clusters of egg-shaped seed capsules at the top of its stems. These seeds split into three parts when ripe and the plant can also spread through its rhizomatous root growth. Slender rush can be found in various habitats such as landscapes, crops, roadsides, and fields, and is able to thrive in both wet and dry soil. It is native to the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe. Due to its ability to grow in compacted soils, it is often referred to as "path rush".
