Juncus marginatus, also known as margined rush or grass-leaf rush, is a flowering plant that grows from short rhizomes. It can reach heights of 30-130 cm and has flat leaf blades. The flowers are grouped together in a terminal inflorescence and have three stamens and three reddish-brown sepals. The plant produces ribbed seeds in a capsule without a beak. It is found in North America, including the Eastern and Southeastern US, as well as parts of Canada, the West Indies, and Central America. It grows in wet habitats such as bogs, shorelines, and marshes with sandy, peaty, or clayey soils. In Minnesota, it is considered an endangered species due to its rarity and is found in shallow wetlands and prairies.
