Scirpus pendulus, also known as pendulous bulrush, rufous bulrush, or nodding bulrush, is a flowering plant in the sedge family. It is native to North America and can be found in various habitats, including wet and disturbed areas. It is also an introduced species in Australia. This perennial herb grows from a rhizome system and can reach up to one meter in height. Its stems are three-angled and can grow singly or in tufts. The plant has sheathing leaves at the base and along the stem, with blades reaching up to 40 centimeters. Its inflorescence is a panicle of spikelets that hang on long branches, often nodding or drooping as the fruit develops.
