Rhynchospora chalarocephala, commonly known as loosehead beaksedge, is a perennial herb found in the southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. It grows in wet, sandy soils, such as marshes, swamps, and wet meadows. It has a long, slender stem with a tuft of light green leaves arranged in a fan-like pattern.
