Eleocharis quinqueflora, also known as fewflower spikerush or few-flowered spike-rush, is a widespread species found in Europe, North Africa, northern Asia, and North America. It can also be found in isolated populations in Argentina and Chile. This rhizomatous perennial grows up to 40 centimeters tall and is commonly found in wet meadows, bogs, and other moist areas. Its stems are surrounded by reddish to green leaf sheaths and topped with dark inflorescences. The spikelet contains two to seven flowers, each covered by a brown or black bract. Its fruit is a yellow-brown achene measuring two to three millimeters in length.
