Carex mitrata, commonly known as mitra sedge, is a perennial sedge plant that grows in tufts. It belongs to the family Cyperaceae and is native to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and eastern China. The species was first described by botanist Adrien René Franchet in 1895 in the Bulletin de la Societe Philomatique de Paris. The type specimen was collected by Urbain Faurie in 1892 from the Shidzuoka mountains.
