Carex johnstonii is a type of sedge plant that grows in clumps and lives for many years. It belongs to the Cyperaceae family and is found in central and eastern Africa. The plant was first identified and named by botanist Johann Otto Boeckeler in 1886 as part of his work on plant classification and geography.
