Carex arctata, also known as drooping woodland sedge, is a species of sedge found in eastern North America. It is commonly found in bogs, hardwood forests, and spruce forests, and is native to areas ranging from Manitoba to the Maritimes in Canada and south to northwestern North Carolina. This plant is part of the Carex sect. Hymenochlaenae and was first named by Francis Boott in 1839. It can hybridize with another species, Carex castanea, to form Carex × knieskernii. Carex arctata is considered endangered in several states, including Indiana, Ohio, and New Jersey.
