is a popular cultivar of Aechmea bromeliifolia, known for its striking crossbands of dark green on light green leaves.

Aechmea bromeliifolia is a type of bromeliad that is native to various regions in Central and South America. It can be found growing on the ground or as an epiphyte in both hot and arid environments. This plant has bright green leaves with spines and a bottle-shaped rosette. Its inflorescence produces red bracts and greenish-yellow flowers, followed by edible black berries. The red variety of this plant is sometimes sold as Aechmea Schiedeana. A popular cultivar of Aechmea bromeliifolia is 'Crossbands', known for its distinctive dark green crossbands on light green leaves.
