Benstonea monticola, also known as scrub breadfruit or urchin-fruited pandan, is a plant endemic to the rainforested areas of north east Queensland, Australia. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree with long, narrow leaves and spiny margins. The plant is dioecious, with male and female flowers on separate plants, and produces a multiple fruit with over 300 segments. It was first described as Pandanus monticola by botanist Ferdinand von Mueller and later transferred to the new genus Benstonea. The species name, monticola, means "mountain dweller" in Latin and the common name, scrub breadfruit, refers to the fruit's resemblance to breadfruit. This plant is found in rainforest habitats and is a host plant for the peppermint stick insect. It is also eaten by cassowaries and giant white-tailed rats. Currently, it is listed as least concern by the Queensland Department of Environment and Science and has not been assessed by the IUCN.
