Common products:
Oxalis stricta is collected as a wild food ingredient and flavoring herb; dried aerial parts are used as an acidic flavoring agent in condiments, syrups, and sauces. When grown horticulturally, seedlings and foliage are sold as edible microgreens and cut greens; commercial canned or frozen products are not typical.

Food and beverages (non-medicinal):
Dried or fresh aerial parts (leaves, young stems) are used as a souring agent in beverages, syrups, condiments, and confectionery flavoring; shoots may be candied. Processing steps are mechanical cleaning, drying, and storage as a flavoring ingredient. No non-edible plant parts are employed.

Colorants and tanning:
Aerial parts yield a yellow-green extract used historically as a natural dye for small-batch crafts. Tannins are present in the foliage and allow limited tanning or mordanting uses; both dye and tannin applications are scale-limited to small craft and research contexts.

Scientific/model-organism use:
O. stricta is used in plant physiology as a model for nyctinastic leaf movement and circadian studies; tissues have been examined for soluble oxalate content and phenolic profiles. It is listed in regional and global invasive or weed databases and appears in ecological, genetic, and horticultural research, contributing to understanding weed ecology and management.

Sustainability and sourcing:
The species is widespread in North America, Asia, and Europe and is commonly harvested from wild or ruderal populations; cultivation for culinary use remains small-scale. Because it is weedy in agricultural and horticultural systems, commercial supply is opportunistic rather than farm-based. Standards are horticultural food-safety handling for wild greens rather than formal commodity certification.
