Elaeocarpus thorelii is a tree that belongs to the Elaeocarpaceae family and is native to Cambodia. It is primarily known for its wood, which is used for construction and as firewood. The tree can grow up to 10-15m tall and is typically found in dense forests with rough bark. It is a rare species, mostly found in the Bokor Plateau of Preah Monivong Bokor National Park at an elevation of 970m. The tree is endemic to Cambodia, specifically in the provinces of Kompong Speu and Kompong Chhnang. In Khmer, it is known as "krâmâr" due to its rough bark. The plant was first described by French botanist Jean Baptiste Louis Pierre in 1885 in his book "Flore Forestiere de la Cochinchine".
