Syzygium hodgkinsoniae, also known as smooth-bark rose apple or red lilly pilly, is a rare subtropical rainforest tree found in the north east New South Wales and south east Queensland regions of Australia. It grows on alluvial soils near streams and can reach up to 11 meters in height with a trunk diameter of 15 centimeters. The bark is dark brown and smooth, and the leaves are large, thick, and heavy with visible veins on both sides. Fragrant white flowers bloom from January to May, followed by red berries in August to November. This species is adapted to grow in riverine subtropical or gallery rainforest habitats with deep, rich soils at altitudes of up to 300 meters above sea level.
