Rhodamnia argentea, also known as malletwood, white myrtle, silver leaf, silver malletwood, and white turpentine, is a rainforest tree found in eastern Australia. It can grow up to 30 meters tall and has a trunk diameter of 85 centimeters. The bark is papery brown or grey with vertical cracks, and the small branches turn white or silvery at the ends. The leaves are ovate, lanceolate, elliptic, or oval in shape and have a silvery white underside. White flowers appear in November and December, followed by round black berries with yellow seeds inside. The fruit is eaten by various birds, and removing the seed from the fleshy aril can help with germination. However, germination from seed is slow and cuttings have proven unreliable. This tree is found in a variety of rainforest habitats and is native to the area from the Hastings River in New South Wales to Bowen in Queensland.
