Myrcia ascendens is a plant species belonging to the Myrtaceae family, found only in Bahia, Brazil and was first described in 2015. Its name is derived from the plant's upward growing branches. It is a small tree or shrub, reaching heights of 1-3 meters, with leaves up to 16mm long and 5mm wide. The fruits are red and can contain up to 2 seeds, measuring 6mm in width. This plant is only found on rock outcrops near rivers in Mucugê municipal park and Serra de São Pedro. Due to its limited distribution, Myrcia ascendens is classified as critically endangered.
