Melaleuca sphaerodendra is a plant in the myrtle family Myrtaceae, native to Grande Terre, the main island of New Caledonia. It is a shrub or small tree with hairy branchlets and leaves that are oval to egg-shaped and have parallel veins. The white or cream flowers bloom from July to September and are followed by woody capsules. It was previously known as Callistemon gnidioides and was transferred to the genus Melaleuca in 1998. There are two varieties of this species, one with linear to oval leaves and the other with elliptic or egg-shaped leaves. It is found in open maquis and on steep scree slopes of volcanic rocks in different parts of Grande Terre.
