Melaleuca irbyana, also known as weeping paperbark, is a plant native to New South Wales and Queensland in Australia. It is a shrub or small tree with thick, papery bark and fine, weeping foliage. The white, scented flowers are arranged in spikes and bloom between September and January. The plant is found in poorly drained areas and often grows in pure stands. It is considered an endangered species under legislation in both states and is classified as critically endangered by the Australian government. Melaleuca irbyana provides habitat for a variety of plants and animals, including the nationally threatened slender milkvine plant. It is also important for shelter and nesting sites for birds and provides breeding habitat for frogs and other pond life. Conservation efforts are in place to protect this species and its forest habitat.
