Melaleuca howeana, also known as tea tree, is a shrub in the myrtle family that is native to the Lord Howe Island group off the coast of Australia. It can grow up to 4 meters tall and has small, linear leaves and white flowers arranged in spikes. The plant is common in exposed areas and provides habitat for the critically endangered Lord Howe Island stick insect. It was first described in 1924 and is found on both Lord Howe Island and Ball's Pyramid.
