Lophomyrtus bullata, also known as ramarama, is a type of evergreen shrub found only in New Zealand. It can grow up to 8 meters tall and has oval-shaped, shiny leaves that can be dark green, yellow green, or spotted with red, maroon, or blackish marks. This plant flowers between November and March and produces fruit from January to June. Unfortunately, ramarama is currently facing a serious threat from myrtle rust, a fungus that arrived in New Zealand in 2017. This has caused a decline in the population of ramarama and has made it a severely threatened species as of 2020.
