Leptospermum purpurascens, also known as the purple-stemmed turkey bush, is a shrub or small tree found only in far north Queensland. It has distinctive purple bark when new, and glossy, elliptical leaves. Its small white flowers are arranged in pairs and it produces small fruit that falls from the plant when the seeds are released. This species was first described in 1989 and its name refers to the purplish color of its bark. It is found on rocky hillsides and is not considered to be at risk. In horticulture, it prefers moist, well-drained soil but is sensitive to frost.
