Kunzea obovata is a flowering plant found in eastern Australia, belonging to the myrtle family. It is a spreading shrub with unique egg-shaped leaves and clusters of pink to purple flowers. This plant is only found in northern New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland. Its branches are covered in soft hairs when young and it can grow up to 3 meters tall. The flowers bloom from September to November and are followed by urn-shaped capsules. Kunzea obovata was first described in 1982 and its name comes from the Latin word for "egg-shaped". It is typically found in forest areas with granite soils and is protected in national parks such as Girraween and Boonoo Boonoo National Parks.
