It is also found on the Nullarbor Plain and in the Gawler Ranges.
Eucalyptus youngiana, also known as large-fruited mallee, is a species of mallee or tree native to arid and semi-arid regions of southern Western Australia and South Australia. It typically grows to a height of 4 to 8 meters and has rough, fibrous bark on the trunk and smooth bark above. The leaves are lance-shaped and the flower buds are arranged in groups of three. The flowers can range in color from red to pink or bright yellow. The fruit is a woody capsule with coarse ridges and contains brown, pyramid-shaped seeds. This species was first described in 1876 and is named after Jess Young, a member of an expedition that collected the type specimen. Eucalyptus youngiana can be found in sandy soil throughout arid and semi-arid areas, including the Nullarbor Plain and Gawler Ranges.
