It is classified as "endangered" under the New South Wales Government Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.

Eucalyptus paliformis, also known as Wadbilliga ash, is a small to medium-sized tree found in southern New South Wales. It has smooth bark, lance-shaped leaves, and white flowers. The tree typically grows up to 12 meters tall and does not form a lignotuber. It is classified as "endangered" and is only found in a single stand in the Wadbilliga area near Cooma. The species was first described in 1973 and its name comes from the Latin word for "stake-like", referring to its slim trunks. Its habitat is in forest and woodland on a high ridge.
