Eucalyptus melanophitra is a mallet species that is native to a limited region in Western Australia. It has rough, flaky grey bark on the trunk and smooth grey bark above, with narrow lance-shaped leaves, flower buds in groups of nine or eleven, pale yellow flowers, and cylindrical to barrel-shaped fruit. It typically grows to a height of 4-7 meters and does not form a lignotuber. This species was first described in 1991 and its name means "black bole" or "black trunk". It is found in small areas near the Pallinup River and the Corackerup Nature Reserve, growing in skeletal soils over laterite. Eucalyptus melanophitra is considered rare or near threatened by the Government of Western Australia Department of Parks and Wildlife.
