It is found in open forest or woodland on undulating country and on lower slopes of hills, often in association with Eucalyptus obliqua and Eucalyptus viminalis.
Eucalyptus mackintii, also known as the blue-crowned stringybark, is a medium-sized tree found only in Victoria, Australia. It has rough, stringy bark and lance-shaped to curved adult leaves. The tree produces white flowers and cup-shaped or hemispherical fruit. It can grow up to 30 meters tall and has a lignotuber. This species was first described in 1990 and is named after forester James Andrew McKinty. It is mainly found in the foothills near Lakes Entrance and Orbost, often in association with other eucalyptus species. The blue-crowned stringybark prefers open forests and woodlands on undulating terrain.
