Eucalyptus globulus subsp. globulus, also known as the Tasmanian blue gum, southern blue gum, or blue gum, is a subspecies of tree native to southeastern Australia. It has smooth bark, glossy lance-shaped leaves, and warty flower buds. The tree can grow up to 70 meters tall and is commonly found in woodland and forest areas in Victoria and Tasmania. In 2021, a 500-year-old, 80-meter tall specimen was discovered in the Huon Valley, raising concerns about its future as it was originally slated for logging.
