Pleroma granulosum, also known as Tibouchina granulosa, is a tree species in the Melastomataceae family. It is native to Bolivia and Brazil and is commonly referred to as purple glory tree or princess flower. This tree is popular for gardening in Brazil due to its year-round blooming of purple flowers. It can grow up to 10 meters tall and requires well-draining acidic soil and an acid fertilizer for optimal growth. It can thrive in tropical and subtropical climates and is hardy in USDA zones 10b to 11. While it can withstand sub-freezing temperatures for short periods, prolonged cold can damage its leaves and stems. However, the plant can quickly recover and produce new growth, though it may not bloom as it focuses its energy on regrowth. There is also a pink-flowered cultivar called 'Kathleen'.
