Xerochlamys itremoensis is a unique shrub that belongs to the Sarcolaenaceae family and is only found in Madagascar. It grows as a prostrate shrub with glossy green leaves and pink to white flowers. The fruits of this shrub are roundish and contain black seeds. This species is endemic to the Itremo Massif in the central region of Amoron'i Mania and can be found in subhumid woodlands at altitudes between 1,300 to 1,800 meters. Unfortunately, Xerochlamys itremoensis is facing threats from wildfires, harvesting, and mining, as it often grows in areas where quartzite and marble are mined. Due to these threats, the conservation status of this species is endangered.
