What is a Subsection (pl. Subsections)?
In botanical taxonomy, a subsection is a taxonomic rank that is used to group related species within a section. The Subsection rank is placed below the Section rank and above the Series rank in the hierarchy of taxonomic ranks.
Subsections are used to group together species of plants that share certain characteristics and are more closely related to one another than to species in other subsections within the same section.
