Dryobalanops aromatica, also known as Borneo camphor, is a critically endangered plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. Its name comes from the aromatic smell of its resin, which was highly valued by early Arab traders. This species is found in Sumatra, peninsular Malaysia, and Borneo, and can grow up to 75 meters tall in mixed dipterocarp forests. It is a heavy hardwood and is known for its crown shyness behavior. The stem bark of D. aromatica contains several compounds, including bergenin and α-viniferin. This species is found in protected areas such as Lambir and Gunung Mulu National Parks.
