Viola stipularis is a species of violet that can be found in southern Central America, some Caribbean islands, and northern South America. It is a herb that grows up to 20-30 cm tall and spreads through creeping rhizomes. The leaves are elliptic to lanceolate-elliptic in shape, with serrated or crenate margins and an acuminate apex. The flowers have thin pedicels and come in shades of pink, lavender, or bluish-white with blue veins. The plant is commonly found in forested hills and montane forests at elevations between 150-3400 m. It is a colonizer of disturbed habitats and can be found in open areas or near summits. V. stipularis is an important plant for its ecological role in colonizing disturbed areas and its distribution across various regions in Central and South America.
