Viola nephrophylla, also known as northern bog violet, Leconte violet, or kidney leaved violet, is a plant in the Violet family native to North America. It was named by Edward Lee Greene in 1896 and is characterized by its kidney-shaped leaves. This species can be found in moist meadows and open woods. However, it is listed as endangered in some states, such as Massachusetts, New York, and Ohio, and as threatened or a special concern in others. In Native American ethnobotany, the Ramah Navajo use this plant as a ceremonial emetic.

Expose seeds to natural outdoor winter conditions for 3 months, then gradually increase light and temperature in the spring.
Sow seeds immediately as their viability decreases rapidly, or they best germinate when fresh. If stored, seeds might need temperature cycling and patience to germinate.
