It is a perennial herbaceous plant, growing to 10–20 cm tall, with a basal rosette of leaves and a single stem bearing a solitary flower. The flowers are purple, with five petals, and are produced in late spring and early summer.
Viola jooi, commonly known as the Carpathian violet or Transylvanian violet, is a species of flowering plant native to Romania and Ukraine.
