Salix eleagnos, also known as the bitter willow, olive willow, hoary willow, rosemary willow, or elaeagnus willow, is a flowering plant found in central and southern Europe and southwest Asia. This deciduous shrub can grow up to 3 meters tall and 5 meters wide, with narrow grey-green leaves that turn yellow in the fall. Its green catkins, which can reach 3-6 cm in length, appear in the spring alongside the leaves, with male catkins having yellow anthers. This species, like all willows, is dioecious. While the specific epithet is often spelled as elaeagnos, the original spelling of eleagnos has been accepted as the correct Greek form. One subspecies, Salix eleagnos subsp. angustifolia, has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
